PRAYER: Lord don’t let us lose track of time. Help us to not procrastinate. Send your Holy Spirit to help us in our areas of weakness as we work towards making them stronger. Let us be totally dependent upon You.
VERSE OF THE DAY: Isaiah 41:13
How often do we brush things to the side? How often do we let things just go undone or untouched because we simply do not want to deal with it? I am so guilty as charged. Yet there is something that I recognized in doing this. I recognized that I am usually frustrated or upset with myself that I didn’t get to it or get it done. Lately, my mindset has changed for the better. I no longer am procrastinating. Yes! I said it. Indeed, I did. Because if I am honest with myself that is exactly what I was doing or was it? Well, I thought I was a procrastinator. I honestly believed it in my heart, until one day I was playing around with my calendar in my phone. I heard a small voice whisper and say, “Whatever you desire to get done for the day put it on your schedule and stick to that schedule.”
I don’t know about you but it is not to often that I even go to my calendar in my phone. I have an actual planner in which was just tossed somewhere in my room underneath only God knows what. Which clearly goes to show you that I was not looking at that much either. I have a tendency to think that I can handle everything on my own. God has broken me down on this plenty of times. I am that “I want to do it on my own” type of individual. Well, the Holy Spirit saw that I like to do things I just was not very organized in doing it. So I listened to the Holy Spirit that day and I realized that I simply was not a procrastinator. I get things done. I just failed at time management. I failed at setting goals. I failed at not following through with what I projected to do within my day.
I say all of that to tell you, that no matter what, you must understand that you are more than capable of doing anything you set your heart and mind to. The key to it all is putting God first through prayer and then listening to that still small voice that gives you sound advice. I have been doing everything that I constantly put off because I simply lacked in follow through. When you say you are going to do something you must follow through and be a man or woman of your word. You must make sure that you are doing exactly what you signed up for. So when you begin to set a time frame on cleaning that closet, cleaning that garage, doing laundry, exercising, finishing that project you started on, or simply getting those studies or reading in that you have been wanting to, you will realize that you are able to get so much done in a good amount of time.
I encourage you to not let your day waste away. Now, don’t get me wrong life happens. This does not mean that things won’t pop up. I simply have learned to not panic but to simply switch times and fill in what activity or event I had to do instead. I have found that it allows me to track my day and have a layout of what I have done within my day. It is almost like my calendar simply holds me accountable. It simply allows me to set goals and to adhere to them rather than just letting my day go by and saying I will get to it eventually. The problem with that is eventually never comes! So be productive, stay active, and find something constructive to do with the time you have here in this life. You will find that you were able to get things done. You will then begin to feel a lot better about yourself.
Sometimes we can’t do it alone. Sometimes we need the Holy Spirit to help us. I encourage you to ask him to help you where you have struggles, just like I did. God hears us when we pray and He knows everything that we need before we even ask it. So I encourage you to speak to God about it and allow Him to speak to you. Listen with an open heart and an open mind. You will see that God loves you and that he is willing to do whatever it takes to make you successful in your very own life. Be encouraged my friends, knowing that you are not alone and God is with you to motivate you and empower you.
