LOOKING FOR LOVE

PRAYER: Lord help us to realize that we no longer have to search for love in all of the wrong places. Let us recognize that you are the God of love who will chasten us and correct us to make us better for You.

VERSE OF THE DAY: 1 John 3:16

So often we look for love in all of the wrong places. We try so hard to fill the void that we have in our hearts through people and things. Being materialistic won’t make you feel a sense of love or value. If it all is taken away or if all is lost then you will begin to feel as if you are not worth anything and you will see that loving yourself was placed in what you have and not what you know. So what do you know? You know that Christ died for your sins at the cross. He laid down His life for you as an act of true and authentic love for you and I. I just want you to know that the love God has for you super exceeds the love that even our hearts at times desire.

The word speaks about our thoughts and ways not being the same thoughts and ways like God (Isaiah 55:8-9). This means that how we view love and how we see love is different from how God sees love. God desires for you to go to heaven and be with Him for all eternity. Whether you like it or not heaven is for real and so is hell. You don’t have to be perfect in the eyes of God for He knows he formed you from the dirt (Genesis 2:7), but you do have to live your life according to His will, plan, and purpose for your life. Everyone will be different, which is why they call it a spiritual journey. This is one individual thing outside of being born and death that requires you to do on your own, but not by yourself. The beauty of it all is that we have a God who loves us enough to chasten us and to correct us where we are (Hebrews 12:6). He looks beyond our faults and he meets us at our need. His love far exceeds what our human minds can grasp or comprehend.

I encourage you today to think about God’s love for you. Think about how God sent His one and only begotten son so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Today, when you accept Christ into your heart it means that you accept eternal life with Him. It means that you no longer have to search and look for love in all of the wrong places but that you are loved by God. I pray that this has blessed you as much as it has blessed me. Let’s each stop looking for love in all the wrong places and start looking to the God who is love.
