PRAYER: Lord allow us to slow down so that we are able to hear your voice when you speak. Allow us the discipline to SILENCE THE NOISE.
VERSE OF THE DAY: Psalm 127:2
Slowing down to hear the voice of the Lord can be challenging. We are constantly on the go trying to make it to our next destination. We seem to miss out on all of the interesting things that God has been trying to show us all throughout the day. Our minds are cluttered and foggy. We are constantly being bombarded with noise, from the grocery store to the malls. Some of us can’t sleep without the sound of noise so we leave our televisions on in the middle of the night. We claim that that this has a tendency to help us fall asleep.
The reality of it all is that we may get to sleep but we don’t get a chance to experience the full rest that we need in order to be energized the next day. Our minds at this point have been going non stop all day long. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and months turn into years. We then have a tendency to wonder why so many people have mental and nervous break downs. A probable cause could be that we don’t take enough time in our lives to slow down and be at peace within. We don’t take the time to grace and bless our hearts and minds with rest. We say that we are resting but we are not fully resting in the way that our bodies should.
I’d like to encourage you to look at this through different lenses. You have to look at this as a self care moment. A time to distress and get more relaxed. I know that spending time with God is not always our number one priority. We are too busy getting ourselves ready for work, the kids off to school, the dog walked, and making our doctor’s appointments that we forget to allow the noise to fade away. We forget to get into the presence of God and to tap into what it is that He has for us. He desires to give us peace and joy unspeakable. Take the time and add it to your schedule a time to SILENCE THE NOISE.
