MY HEART & MIND

PRAYER: Lord allow me to follow after Your heart and Your mind. Help me to watch and listen to the things that please You.

VERSE OF THE DAY: Matthew 5:8

They say that following your heart can lead you into trouble, so it is important to use your mind. You know, the think before you do ordeal. Now tell me how many of us actually follow that principle? Nine times out of ten none of us do. We follow our hearts in hope that our minds will follow. Now I would agree that there are times when you have to think and step outside of your emotions in order to make the right decision but majority of us automatically follow our hearts.

With us being the emotional beings that we are (yes this includes men too) it is important that if we are going to follow our hearts that we keep our hearts pure and away from things that don’t please God. How do you do that? You do that by watching what you place inside of you. Your eyes and ears are gateways to your heart and mind. So it is very important that you are careful of what you watch and who you are listening too. Something’s are not good for you. Just because it looks pleasing to the eye doesn’t mean that later on down the road it won’t break your heart. Just because it sounds good when you are listening to it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t set a negative vibe for your mind.

So I encourage you today to think about what you are allowing your eyes to see and your ears to hear. Think about what is causing your heart to stumble or fall. Think about what positive and negative energies you are feeding your mind. God desires to be apart of both your heart and mind. Create a space for Him to dwell in both places. It is only then you will be able to determine if you should follow your heart or your mind. I believe eventually you will see, after creating that space for Him, that you will be following more so His heart and His mind.
