SERENITY PRAYER:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
VERSE OF THE DAY: Proverbs 18:15
After starting on your resolutions for the year and getting use to writing the year correctly, simply take a few minutes to meditate on this prayer an scripture. How often do we walk around wanting something to change so badly but not accepting that it won’t change? We walk around beating ourselves up about the realities of our lives.
This prayer really speaks to me in knowing that my past is behind me and done with and all that matters now is what I do today. If I can change what is in front of me for the better in my life then why not start with that? Why keep beating myself up with guilt and shame about something I can’t change? Instead I will make other arrangements and find other resolutions or “resolves” and follow through with that.
It only makes sense to gain the wisdom from being depressed, miserable, or sad about something I simply can’t change. Instead I will turn my negatives into positives and work at making those the highlight of my reality. I encourage you to do the same. Take a look at all of your frustrations and where they stem from. Simply ask yourself, can I change it? If the answer is no, then accept that reality. If the answer is yes, then take the appropriate steps to changing your reality. Through all of this gain both clarity, wisdom, and insight on what lies ahead in your future!
